Year Two INTEGRATIONAL YEAR
APPRENTICE JOURNEYMAN CLASSES
MAP 210 TO 240 – INTERMEDIATE MIME TECHNIQUES
A further study in technique that builds upon the previous foundational technique classes to include hand, arm and leg designs, as well as ascents and descents, extended movement sequences, marches, character development and advanced rhythms. These intermediate classes take the student through more advanced techniques, exercises, movements and choreography, covering a wide range of mime technique. This course offer more individualized attention in the following areas: (3 units)
MAP 210 – Intermediate Mime Technique
This course builds upon the previous foundational technique classes to include hand, arm and leg designs, illusion, advanced rhythms, transformation, morphing and metamorphosis. An essential class in building a complete mime vocabulary.
MAP 220 - Intermediate Mime Style
An exploration into the study of the style of the mime masters, specifically working on the concepts of the five senses and the elements through more advanced techniques.
MAP 230 - Intermediate Mime Body Control
A continued study into Decroux’s corporeal mime, including complex body designs such as double design, triple design, translations and projections.
MAP 235 - Movement Concepts
A class that progresses into advanced rhythms and punctuations specifically dealing with coloration, control of weight and control of rhythms in pivots. The course adds advanced concepts like transfer of weight & concepts, and statuary techniques in movement.
MAP 240 - Mime Lab I
A monitored creative session for the development of original Journeyman works and continued personal study of the advanced techniques needed on the Journeyman physical exam.
MAP 211 TO 260 – INTERMEDIATE MIME TECHNIQUE (CONTINUED)
These intermediate classes continue where foundational Mime Technique left off. It takes the student through specific techniques, exercises, movements and choreography, covering more advanced mime technique. The student continues developing their understanding of different styles of movement and variations in standard technique. This course offer more individualized attention in the following areas: (2 units)
MAP 211 - Intermediate Mime Technique & Style Review
A continuing analysis and in-depth review of mime techniques and style, including a study of new, complex concepts.
MAP 250 - Intermediate Statuary Mime
An in-depth course that focuses on the creation of multi-layered statues and the use of attitudes and statuary techniques to create advanced concepts that related to the transfer of weight, which when added to statuary mime, creates movement.
MAP 260 - Intermediate Mimesis
A further exploration of masters’ choreography. The student are expected to copy through analysis and recreation a masterpiece, or techniques used by a master in his or her masterpiece, and perform their understanding of the studied work on a J-level ability.
MAP 241 - Mime Lab II
These are hands-on courses designed to give the student time in the studio to work creatively on specific exercises, movements and choreography. These courses offer more individualized attention. The Lab research and topics discussed are suggested by the student; the instructor has no prearranged agenda.
MAP 271 TO 274 – INTERMEDIATE FORMS CLASSES
This course is a continuation of MAP 171 to 174, but the classes are assigned on student ability. The classes take the student through intermediate exercises, movements and choreography, while giving the student time in the studio to develop an even greater movement vocabulary. The student develops an understanding of different styles of movement by applying themselves to the following forms: (3 units)

MAP 275 TO 278 – INTERMEDIATE FORMS CLASSES (CONTINUED)
These classes take the student through specific exercises, movements and choreography, while giving the student time in the studio to develop a greater movement vocabulary. The student develops an understanding of different styles of movement by applying themselves to the following forms: (3 units)

MAP 280 – TEAM MIMEISTRY I
A practical course that gives the student experience in the ministry aspect of mime. The student is assigned ministry projects that are executed and evaluated during the course. (1 unit)
MAP 281 – TEAM MIMEISTRY II
A hands-on class designed to give the student practical training in the ministry aspects of mime, dance, or drama, such as evangelism, street work, worship, prophecy and pulpit support. (1 unit)
MAP 290 – CONDITIONING I
A preparatory course for mimes, that emphasizes basic exercises to strengthen the muscles of the upper and lower body, as well as providing a cardio-vascular workout. This is aimed at improving physical health and alignment. (1 unit)
MAP 291 – CONDITIONING II
A preparatory course for mimes, that emphasizes basic exercises to strengthen the muscles of the upper and lower body, as well as providing a cardio-vascular workout. This is aimed at improving physical health and alignment. (1 unit)
MAP 282 – PRACTICAL MINISTRY
All Ministering Arts majors are required to complete 6 hours of practical ministry credit each semester of the 3 years of their required study. (1 credit)
MAP 282 – MINISTERING ARTS TOUR
The Ministering Arts Tour is considered a practical learning experience/environment in which the student is given practical training in the ministry aspects of mime, dance, or drama, such as evangelism, street work, worship, prophecy and pulpit support. This Mimeistry Guild Achievement Program requires a student to do 2 Mimeistry Tours. If the Apprentice Tour were substituted by workshop/special project credits, participation in 2 Ministering Arts Tour is required for their Journeymanship. However, if a student has already toured 2 times before the end of his or her third year, this tour opportunity becomes elective. (3 units)
ATH 231 TO 233 – ARTS IN THE CLASSICS
A study of classical writings on the Arts, written by the early Church fathers, and other classical authorities. This course includes a comparison and contrast of the early Church fathers who were against the use of the arts in the Church at that time. (3 unit)

MJB 238 - Chrysostom, Amalarius, & Augustine (Early Church fathers on the Arts)
MAT 240 – INTERMEDIATE MIMEOGRAPHY THEORY
A study in mime creation that covers pulpit support, illustrated sermon, plot line construction, mimesis, analysis, and story telling. A foundational class of the Journeyman program. (2 units)
MAT 230 – INTERMEDIATE MIME THEORY (THE MASTERY OF MIMODRAME II, III, & IV)
A course that covers more advanced concepts in mime theory and develops a broader mime vocabulary, including French Terms for Mimes, based on The Mastery of Mimodrame II, III, & IV (The Master Class Series). The final exams in both mime theory and French terms are requirements needed for the completion of the Journeyman program. (2 units)
MAT 241 – INTERMEDIATE MIMEOGRAPHY
A continued study in Mimeography theory application. The student’s ability to analyze music and text and to create a mime piece from scratch are expanded through this hands-on course. Students are encouraged to work through the creative process by developing mime pieces of their own. (2 units)
MAT 250 TO 255 – TEACHER’S MIMEOGRAPHY II
This course is a continuation of MAT 150 to 155, but second-year students will be given more responsibility. Journeyman students will have a role in running rehearsals and will be given lead roles in performances. (2 units)
ATH 211 TO 212 - ARTS AND HISTORIES
A look into the use of the ministering arts in the Middle Ages, including Mystery, Passion, and other such plays. This series also covers a comprehensive study of the book Mime Through the Church Ages, authored by Todd Farley, which covers the early Church fathers and their insights into the uses of mime and dance in the early Church. This series also offers a progression of lectures on the philosophies of Biblical mime, dance gesture, and the fall of the arts. (3 units)

MAE 200 TO 260 - ELECTIVE CLASSES
These elective classes might stand alone or follow on previous elective classes, and are designed to give the student more specific skills in areas they would like to cover. These courses might range from ‘studio work’ on specific exercises, movements or choreography, to expanded studies on ancient symbols or cultures. These courses offer more individualized attention in the following areas:
