Year Three ADVANCED YEAR
FULL JOURNEYMAN CLASSES
MAP 310 TO 340 – ADVANCED MIME TECHNIQUES
A further study in technique that builds upon the previous intermediate classes to include all hand, arm and leg designs, as well as more advanced ascents and descents, extended movement sequences, marches, character development and experimentation with advanced rhythms. These advanced classes take the student through more advanced techniques, exercises, movements and choreography, covering a wide range of mime technique. This course offer more individualized attention in the following areas: (4 units)
MAP 310 – Advanced Mime Technique
A final study and overview of complex mime techniques that solidify the advanced concepts of the third-year Journeyman student. This class also identifies any weak areas in the student.
MAP 320 - Advanced Mime Style
A continued advance study into the style of the main mime masters, while focusing on the concepts of the five senses and the elements through advanced techniques.
MAP 330 - Advanced Mime Body Control
A continued study into Etienne Decroux’s corporeal mime, including double and triple body designs, translations and projections, Decrouxean figures and marches, and body sculpting.
MAP 335 - Movement Concepts
A class on all the advance rhythms and punctuations, specifically dealing with coloration/decoloration, control of weight and control of rhythms in pivots. The course adds advanced concepts like transfer of weight, transfer of concepts, statuary techniques in movement, movement studies, and character marches.
MAP 340 - Mime Lab I
A monitored creative session for the development of original Journeyman works and continued personal study of the advanced techniques needed on the Journeyman physical exam.
MAP 311 TO 360 – ADVANCED MIME TECHNIQUE (CONTINUED)
These advanced classes continue where intermediate Mime Technique left off. It takes the student through specific techniques, exercises, movements and choreography, covering more advanced mime technique. The student continues developing their understanding of many different styles of movement and variations in standard technique. This course offer more individualized attention in the following areas: (4 units)
MAP 311 - Advanced Mime Technique & Style Review
A continued review and study of mime techniques and styles as it applies to the more advanced student. See
MAP 210 & 220.
MAP 350 - Advanced Statuary Mime
An advanced study, with an emphasis on the advanced student, that covers complex attitudes, statues, transformations and metamorphosis.
MAP 360 - Advanced Mimesis
An advanced exploration of masters’ choreography. The student is expected to copy through analysis and recreation a masterpiece, or techniques used by a master in his or her masterpiece, and perform their understanding on a high J-level ability. Sensitivity, suspension, highly stylistic body sculpting and effective drama are main concepts needed in the students’ mimesis.
MAP 366 - Advanced Mime Improvisation
A third-year course that equips the mime artist not only to handle spontaneous and prophetic situations that they may experience, but also fulfill an active leadership role in the spontaneous and prophetic situations. This class also aims at developing the students’ ability to accurately and effectively deal with prophecy, the spoken word, and improvisation of stories.
MAP 341 - Mime Lab II
These are hands-on courses designed to give the student time in the studio to work creatively on specific exercises, movements and choreography. These courses offer more individualized attention. The Lab research and topics discussed are suggested by the student; the instructor has no prearranged agenda.
MAP 371 TO 374 – ADVANCED FORMS CLASSES
This course is a continuation of MAP 271 to 274, but the classes are assigned on student ability. The classes take the student through advanced exercises, movements and choreography, even encouraging the student to participate with class presentations. The student is given time in the studio to develop an even greater movement vocabulary and continues to develop an understanding of different styles of movement. (4 units)

MAP 375 TO 378 – ADVANCED FORMS CLASSES (CONTINUED)
These classes take the student through specific exercises, movements and choreography, while giving the student time in the studio to develop a greater movement vocabulary. The student develops an understanding of different styles of movement by applying themselves to the following forms: (4 units)

MAP 380 – TEAM MIMEISTRY I
A practical course that gives the student experience in the ministry, teaching and directing aspect of mime. The student is assigned ministry projects, choreography, or other tasks that are executed and evaluated during the course. Mentored students are exempt from this course. (1 unit)
MAP 381 – TEAM MIMEISTRY II
A practical course that gives the student experience in the ministry, teaching and directing aspect of mime. The student is assigned ministry projects, choreography, or other tasks that are executed and evaluated during the course. Mentored students are exempt from this course. (1 unit)
MAP 390 – CONDITIONING I
A preparatory course for mimes, that emphasizes basic exercises to strengthen the muscles of the upper and lower body, as well as providing a cardio-vascular workout. This is aimed at improving physical health and alignment. (1 unit)
MAP 391 – CONDITIONING II
A preparatory course for mimes, that emphasizes basic exercises to strengthen the muscles of the upper and lower body, as well as providing a cardio-vascular workout. This is aimed at improving physical health and alignment. (1 unit)
MAP 382 – PRACTICAL MINISTRY
All Ministering Arts majors are required to complete 6 hours of practical ministry credit each semester of the 3 years of their required study. (1 credit)
MAT 340 – ADVANCED MIMEOGRAPHY THEORY
A deeper look into the creative process of mime choreography with an emphasis on leadership. This is a foundational class of the third-year Journeyman program. (2 units)
MAT 341 – ADVANCED MIMEOGRAPHY
A stronger application of mime choreography theory (mimeography). The student’s ability to analyze music with sensitivity to rhythm and drama, the correctness of the text, and para textual interpretation are focused on. New mime pieces are critiqued and examined within this course. Students are continuously encouraged to work through the creative process by developing mime pieces of their own. (2 units)
MAT 350 TO 355 – TEACHER’S MIMEOGRAPHY III
A further study into the development of advanced pieces by the instructor where the student will be required to assist and lead in rehearsals and performances. See MAT 250 to 255 (2 units)
MAP 345 TO 346 - MENTORING
These classes are designed to enable selected Apprentice Journeymen (mentored students) to develop under an assigned Mentor’s guidance. These sessions focus on facilitating personal and ministerial growth, enrichment of technique, identifying and strengthening of weaknesses, and assistance in fulfilling their MGAP requirements, or Journeyman specializations.

MJB 310 - BOOK REPORT, WORKSHOP DEVELOPMENT, HOMILETICS & LECTURE DEVELOPMENT
A directed course of study that requires the student to research a book related to their specific major, and presents their research for examination in report form. The course also enables the student to develop 3 structured and outlined mime workshops, and to develop an outline and structure for the preaching and teaching of a sermon or lecture based on original research and revelation. (3 units)
ATH 350 – ARTS IN PRAXIS
These classes operate within a group dynamic and are designed to help the student integrate what they have learned in the School with what they experience in Ministry. The class looks into the use of the ministering arts in college, university, youth group, small group, street evangelism, etc. It provide the student with a ‘integrated systems theory praxis’ paradigm that would enable the student to transition from student to professional. (3 units)
ATH 351 – ARTS IN PRAXIS (CONTINUED)
A continuation of ATH 350 (3 units)
ATH 360 – FIELD ANALYSIS
A directed course of study that requires the student to examine three churches or organizations through a process of situation analysis, identification and definition, representation and planning, implementation, evaluation, and termination. The student is required to present his or her findings in an outline that highlights the church’s or organizations’ operational ministry model. (3 units)
ATH 370 – INTERNSHIP
Internship is considered a practical learning experience/environment in which the student is given opportunity to minister inside a Local Body (Church) or another organization in all aspects of their art, such as preaching, performing, evangelism, street work, worship, workshops, prophecy and pulpit support. At the end of the placement (internship) the church or organization evaluates the student’s participation and ministry within the Body, and provides the School of Ministering Arts the necessary feedback for follow-up and further evaluation. (3 units)
MAE 300 TO 370 - ELECTIVE CLASSES
These elective classes might stand alone or follow on previous elective classes, and are designed to give the student more specific skills in areas they would like to cover. These courses might range from ‘studio work’ on specific exercises, movements or choreography, to expanded studies on ancient symbols or cultures. These courses offer more individualized attention in the following areas:
