SPECIALIST JOURNEYMAN CLASSES
MAT 441 - PERFORMER ORIGINAL MIMEOGRAPHY
Mime Choreography for a 45-60 minute Performer’s Show of original work with one group number is expected. Students must score at least 90% (A-, or 3.7 grade points or above) in their Show to pass. (3 units)
MAP 410 TO 440 - ADVANCED JOURNEYMAN PHYSICAL TESTING
The student must pass all areas of the Advanced Journeyman Physical test in order to pass the test. This testing period might be longer and more comprehensive than the Journeyman physical test, and the technical ability of the student-performer is graded more meticulously (Approximately 1½ - 2 hour test). The advanced physical testing requires the examination of three different areas of testing: (3 units)
MAP 410 - Apprentice Level Technique
This course covers all the basic elements of mime technique such as isolations, body and feet positions, walks, colorations, rhythms, attitudes, senses, elements, basic object identification, and basic mime illusions. Students must score at least 95% in all basic technique.
MAP 420 - Journeymen Level Technique
This includes any Mastery of Mimodrame Video Series techniques and any other advanced physical style/mime technique covered in any class (college or workshop). This test will include principles of mime evangelism, mime pulpit support, mime prophecy, analyzing a concept, mime style, mime improvisation, and mime technique as they appear in advanced level classes. Students must score at least 90% (A-, or 3.7 grade points or above) in all advance technique.
MAP 430 - Improvisational Technique
The student will also be graded on what he or she has not been taught but what is on average within the ability of any good performer. The Master will require ‘on the spot’ performance, and grade it with tact and discretion. It is what should be expected as standard from this level of grading.
MAT 460 - PERFORMER DIRECTED PROJECT
This project is evidenced in either (1) a Directed Study, or (2) a special Performance Directive: (3 units)
Directed Study: The Study consists of both a Reflection Paper (3-5 pages) and Research Paper (15-20 pages). The student-performer can combine both the Reflection Paper and the Research Paper into one 20 page Project Paper.
Performance Directive: This project is “performance-based” and equals 50 hours worth of work. The category of work excepted depends on a Master's agreement, prior to the start of the Directive.
MAP 480 - PERFORMANCE PARTICIPATION
Student-Performers should be involved in all major performances of the School of Ministering Arts, and their subsequent rehearsals, including Team Mimeistry events. It is up to the appropriate Event Instructor to determine which performances the student-performer might be allowed to pass over. Requests for exclusion form events should be submitted in writing to the Event Instructor, one week before the set event, or commencement of rehearsals. (2 units)
MAP 482 - ONE PERFORMER TOUR
The tour costs no additional funds than the course fee; however, the student-performer is still expected to raise their own funds for ‘on the road costs’, additional traveling arrangements, extra tuition, & personal expenses. The tour should be between 3 to 4 weeks in length. This tour requirement cannot be substituted, and should emphasize the student-performer’s original mimeography (at least one piece in every performance). Special Projects could be considered for completion, dependant on Dean of the School of Ministering Arts. In all other regards the tour functions as a regular ministry tour (see MAP 282). (3 units)
MAP 461, 462 OR 463 – TEACHING DIRECTIVE
The fulfillment of this requirement is evidenced in either (1) teaching 2 classes, (2) assisting an instructor for 4 classes, or (3) teaching 1 class, and assisting in 2 other classes. (3 units)
MAP 461 - Teaching 2 classes: 24 hours of teaching (12 hours per class x 2 classes).
MAP 462 - Assisting in 4 classes: 48 hours of being a TA (Teachers Assistant for 12 hours per class x 4 classes).

MAT 431 - ADVANCED FRENCH TERMS FOR MIMES
The student-teacher is required to self-study the Advanced French Terms for Mimes (terminology) workbook and then arranges a testing-time with the examiner. (2 units)
MAT 430 - TEACHER’S ADVANCED WRITTEN EXAM
This is based on the same material as the Mastery of Mimodrame I, II, III, & IV Note sets. This written Test is graded more meticulously. The Note sets for The Master Class Series (Mastery of Mimodrame I, II, III & IV) are the essential study guide for test preparation. (3 units)
MAT 461 – TEACHER DIRECTED STUDY
The Directed Study consists of both a Reflection Paper (3-5 pages) and Research Paper (15-20 pages). The student-teacher can combine both the Reflection Paper and the Research Paper into one 20 page Project Paper. Possible subject matter might include teaching methodology, how to develop a teaching syllabus or create a class, or a related field. (3 units)
MAT 462 - TEACHER FULL SYLLABUS
The Syllabus draws from a subject where the course materials already exist. It incorporates the material and formats it into a 12 week course (12-20 pages in length), which could be academic or practical in nature. It includes a course description (1 page), outline (2-4 pages), assessments, full lecture notes (in case of an academic course), and any other materials needed for teaching the class. (3 units)
MAT 463 - DEVELOPMENT OF A COURSE
Note: The development of a Course incorporates the elements of the Directed Study (D) and the Syllabus (E), counting as 2 requirements. It is usually evidenced in an Academic Course (20-80 pages in length) where the student-teacher generates the course materials and resources by researching a text, book or topic. The Course is presented in the form of a Teachers Handbook. The Handbook covers all the topics, questions and answers, and it is footnoted and annotated. It holds a short syllabus (3 pages), lecture notes, student notes, assignments, mid terms, finals and a questionnaire that is used to evaluate the class overall. (6 units)
MAT 442 - DIRECT A SHOW
The student-director must choreograph and direct 4 numbers (group or solo). They are not allowed to perform the pieces themselves but they may use whomever they wish as the performers of the show. The numbers should be wholly developed, directed and critiqued by the student-director, and therefore the numbers will not be critiqued by any of the Mimeistry staff until the show is evaluated. They may only discuss their choreography with a Mimeistry teacher. Grading is based not only on choreography but also on evaluations from the directed performers and the overall show, including lighting, sound, transitions, dramatic line and creativity. The numbers and the show as a whole must be 90% (A-, or 3.7 grade points or above) or above to pass. (3 units)
MAT 443 - DIRECT AND CHOREOGRAPH A GROUP PIECE
The student-director should direct and choreograph an original work (a group piece). The choreography should be innovative, technically interesting, analytically and theologically sound, thought provoking or heartfelt, and attesting of high directional worth, i.e. worthy of inclusion in the Gala. (3 units)
MAT 464 – DIRECTOR DIRECTED STUDY
This Directed Study consists of both a Reflection Paper (3-5 pages) and Research Paper (15-20 pages). The student can combine both the Reflection Paper and the Research Paper into one 20 page Project Paper. Possible subject matter might include directing methodology. (3 units)
MAP 481 - MINISTERIAL OUTREACH
Note: The student-director is expected to direct and coordinate all relevant organizational work, ministry groundwork, and student ministerial preparation, in a weekend tour/ministry event. Construction of a system of evaluation (basic aim/task realizations, measured by the intended system) that incorporates the feedback of both student and ministry representative, is essential for the completion of this requirement, and the proper evaluation of the student-director. (3 units)
MAT 450 – DIRECTOR CRITIQUES
This requirement is evidenced in (1) the “critiquing” of a preexisting show, (2) the “critiquing” two Journeyman Shows, and (3) critique participation. (2 units)
The full critique of a preexisting show (whom the Faculty has evaluated too), so that the student-director’s evaluation could be assessed by the Faculty.
The student-director should actively participate in the "critiquing" of two Journeyman Shows in which he or she completes the set Critique Forms.
Participation with critiques given by a Master to Student Journeyman and Apprentice Journeyman pieces, or possibly direct critiques to other student-apprentice pieces under the guidance of a Master.
MAT 451 - MENTOR CRITIQUES
This requirement is evidenced in (1) the “critiquing” of two mentee Illusion pieces, and (2) critique participation. (3 units)
The student-mentor should actively participate in the "critiquing" of two student-apprentice pieces (his or her mentee’s Illusion pieces). Also, he or she needs to bring encouragement through their critique, and not just see mistakes.
Participation with critiques given by a Master to student-apprentice pieces, or possibly direct critiques to other student-apprentice pieces under the guidance of a Master.
MAT 452 - GRADING DIRECTIVE
The grading directive is completed by studying Mimeistry’s grading system and completing the following:
(2 units)
The active participation with the grading of his or her two mentee’s Illusion pieces
The active participation with the grading of their Apprentice physical testing.
3) The student-mentor is also encouraged to indirectly participate with the testing-times of all other Apprentice physical testing.
MAP 465 – MENTOR TEACHING DIRECTIVE
The fulfillment of this requirement is evidenced in the following: (3 units)
1) Teachers Assistant for all the Silent Prophet or Mastery of Mimodrame I Comprehensive classes (choice), and assisting the teacher in marking that classes final test.
2) Teachers Assistant for all Prophetic Gestures classes, and assisting the teacher in marking their final exams.
3) Assisting in the grading of the mentee’s Book Reports.
4) Teaching 1 Apprentice level class (12 hours class time, or 1 hour per class x 12 classes). This include the midterm and final class grade evaluations.
5) Teaching 1 Apprentice mentoring class (minimum of 12 hours class time, or 1 hour per class x 12 classes). This class should include both mentees and should be set up by the student-mentor themselves.
MAT 432 - GUIDELINES FOR MENTOR’S WRITTEN COMPREHENSIVE
In preparation for the written test (final examination), the Guidelines for Mentors note set will be made available for study. Students must also submit their completed “questions and answers” sections at the time of their test. Students must score at least 80% (B-, or 2.7 grade points or above) in their final test to pass (Approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour test). (3 units)
MAP 483 - MINISTRY EXEMPLAR
The fulfillment of this requirement is evidenced by (1.) creating an original work, (2.) performing the choreography, and (3) evaluating the mentees experiences. (3 units)
1) The student-mentor should direct and choreograph an original work (a group piece) that strongly features his or her two mentees. The choreography should be innovative, technically interesting, analytically and theologically sound. The choreography should press the mentees to perform at their current best. The student-mentor doesn’t have to perform in the piece themselves.
2) The student-mentor is expected to direct and coordinate all relevant organizational work, ministry groundwork, and mentee ministerial preparation, for two ministry events of their created choreography.
3) Incorporate feedback and evaluation into the mentor-mentee relationship via evaluation (basic aim/task realizations) of the event.
ATH 450 – ADVANCED ARTS IN PRAXIS
These classes operate within a group dynamic and are designed to help the student integrate what they have learned in the School with what they experience in Ministry. The class looks into the use of the ministering arts in college, university, youth group, small group, street evangelism, etc. It provide the student with a ‘integrated systems theory praxis’ paradigm that would enable the student to transition from student to professional.
