About the Campus: Williams Carey International University

Mimeistry School of Ministering Art’s classrooms are located on the campus of William Carey International University (WCIU) in the beautiful San Gabriel Valley of Pasadena, California. Our students are housed at WCIU’s Aylward House, the campus dormitory. WCIU is a Christian campus with several schools, churches and organizations including the US Center for World Missions. Created to serve voluntary organizations involved in holistic development, many of which are religious in nature, WCIU emphasizes excellence in academic studies from a global perspective. As a student in Mimeistry you will be exposed to many other cultures not only attending Mimeistry but also the other services on Campus. You are encouraged to make friends and enjoy the international groups on campus.

   

Directions to the Campus:
From the Foothill Freeway #210, which runs east-west through Pasadena, exit at Hill Avenue. Turn north on Hill you will go about two miles (towards the mountains), (four intersections with traffic signals) to Washington Blvd., a gas station on your right. Continue north one block to Howard Street and turn right. The campus is on Howard Street just past Wesley Ave.

The Aylward House provides accommodations that are clean and economical for students attending Mimeistry’s School of Ministering Arts as well as those involved with William Carey International University (WCIU). The dormitory and cafeteria facilities are also available to volunteers and staff agencies with office space on the campus.

Room Description:
Each room has 2 beds, dresser and desk, telephone and bookcase. There are clothes closets in each room. Bathroom facilities are conveniently located on each floor of the dorm. Girls are housed on the second floor, boys on the first, and couples have allocated double rooms throughout the dorms. The cafeteria offers meals Monday through Friday and occasionally on weekends. There is on-site parking in a gated lot for $15 a month.

Other Amenities:
Game Room, Basketball & Tennis Courts, 2 TV Lounges, Campus Library, Computer Room, and Campus Snack Shop with Free Wireless.

Continue north one block to Howard Street and turn right. The dorms one block east of Hill Ave down Howard Street. The Driveway is the first driveway past Wesley Avenue.

For access to the dormitory, Aylward House, turn left at 1539 into the parking lot for Robert Speer Hall. If the barrier at the upper end of the parking lot is open, drive straight ahead to the white picket fence where a walkway leads to the front door of the House. Use the telephone to the right of the door to gain entry. After business hours, use the courtesy phone to the left of the door. If the barrier is closed after business hours, park in the "Loading Zone" and walk up the driveway to the white picket fence. Note: no overnight parking is allowed on Pasadena streets.

From LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) : Take 105 East (Century Freeway) to 110 North (Pasadena Freeway) which ends in Arroyo Parkway. Continue about one mile. Turn right on Green street, jog over one block to Marengo, turn left (north) go five blocks and enter the 210 freeway by turning right (east) (Foothill Freeway) to the Hill Avenue exit. Turn left (north) on Hill Avenue. Pass under the freeway and go north 2 miles. Pass Washington Boulevard, and turn right at the next block on East Howard Street. Continue straight for one block. The entrance to William Carey International University is at the first driveway on the left.

Shuttle Services from LAX:

PRIME TIME Shuttle from the airport will bring you to William Carey International University. (PRIME TIME operates red vans under the Orange sign outside the baggage claim on the lower level.) Call l-800-733-8267, and ask for the WCIU discount (currently $15.00 each way). If the driver questions this rate, have him call his office to verify it.

(Note: some drivers will know the names William Carey International University or US Center for World Missions). Please note that a shuttle service van carries a full load of passengers, dropping each off at his home address along the way. For a direct though more expensive non-stop ride, take a taxi.

From Ontario Airport: Take Vineyard Avenue (North) to the 10 West freeway. When you see signs for 210 West freeway, take this route. Take the Hill Avenue exit. Turn right (north) on Hill Avenue. Pass Washington Boulevard, and turn right on East Howard Street. Continue straight for one block. The entrance to William Carey International University is at the first driveway on the left.

From Burbank Airport: Take Interstate 5 South to 134 East to 210 East. Take the Hill Avenue exit. Turn left (north) on Hill Avenue. Pass under the freeway and go north two miles. Pass Washington Boulevard and turn right on East Howard Street. Continue straight for one block. The entrance to William Carey International University is at the first driveway on the left.

Students in their first year of full time schooling are obliged to stay in the Campus Dorms unless they are living with local family. Alternate hosing is available in the Pasadena community for second, third, and fourth year students including apartments, townhouses, houses and single rooms for rent. Individuals looking for roommates, housemates, or part-time caretakers may advertise in WCIU’s listing.
 
Updated weekly, the listing is available for $1.00 per copy through WCIU’s office. If you would like this list mailed to you, you will need to provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope and $1.00 for each copy/week requested. Please include your mailing address along with the cash/check (made payable to Fuller Housing) for the number of weeks that you want the listing mailed to you. (WCIU does not Fax or E-mail the Community Listing.  Credit cards or Debit cards are not accepted. Fuller Housing does not assume responsibility for any dissatisfaction on the part of the tenant or landlords in regard to the listing. Potential tenants need to contact all landlords directly.)
